The big news of the first Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo was that Chautauqua County has Bigfoot/ Sasquatch living in peace and harmony amongst our county neighbors.
The Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo took place in Mayville on May 6 and was attended by more than 300 people in person as well as folks watching on the Expo's Streaming Videoprolibraries.com/bigfoot/registration/event. It was the first Bigfoot convention in America to use a streaming video beaming out to the world wide web. The video of the Expo using the latest technology will become available as soon as there is more than five hours of video.
The fever pitch was obvious as people, many with children, came through the doors leading into the Expo on their way to the first Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo. There were items for sale, including T-shirts, Bigfoot coffee mugs made by The Bemus Point Pottery, posters and buttons.
Out front in the Chautauqua Suites' parking lot were wood carvers and carvings, including a chain saw carver and his sculptures of Bigfoots.
Leading off the agenda was Larry Battson Wildlife Educational Services, which did a real neat presentation of animals including a tarantula, small alligator, a tortoise and a huge snake which he wrapped around a young volunteer boy, who I don't believe knew what he was getting into when he volunteered. It is awesome on the streaming video.
The first of four speakers was Melissa Hovey, the No. 1 female Bigfoot researcher in the country, who talked about being a witness to a Bigfoot sighting and the reluctance of coming out. Billy Willard followed her with a great presentation followed by the Expo chairman, Peter Wiemer, just before the intermission. Wiemer made the earth-shattering announcement that there are Bigfoots/Sasquatch in Chautauqua County as well as where people could consider looking for them.
After the intermission, Steve Kulls and Larry Battson spoke, with all four speakers doing a discussion wrap-up at the end.
The Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo was a resounding success with everyone being happy when they left. The speakers noted that there were more children present than they have ever seen at a Bigfoot event which goes to show again that our children are the future.
