Bigfoot Is Known By More Than One Name
The most popular name for the creature is "Bigfoot." However, the monster that looks more like a hairy man than an ape is also known by 50 other names given to it by Native Americans. One of the most common is "Sasquatch."

I was a kid during what I think was the first really big Bigfoot craze in the 1960s and 70s.
I lived in those years in the Midwest and I remember walking anxiously through fields of corn stubble, scrutinizing distant windbreaks in fear of seeing a big, lumbering figure haunting the forest.
Since arriving here in the Adirondacks, I've heard occasionally from Sasquatch believers. One guy very kindly sent me a photograph of a lumpy chunk of stuff that he claimed was the mold of a footprint — a really big footprint, as you might imagine.
The issue surfaced again earlier this month, when state Conservation biologist Gordon Batcheller dispatched a letter to folks organizing a bigfoot convention in New York. (A convention for believers, obviously, not actual critters…)
“The mythical animal does not exist in nature or otherwise," Batcheller wrote, in a letter which you can read here in full.

Robert Lindsay: Shocking news! “Dogman” is apparently real! According To Ketchum Camp?
Please don't let this be true. I pray to Baby Jesus that this isn't true. If the Dogman is real, I'm quitting Bigfoot for good. According to Robert "The Machine Gun" Lindsay, sources have mentioned to him that Ketchum's team had been testing Dogman DNA and that they have confirmed it to be a "separate entity from Bigfoot". Lindsay isn't sure how they got the information, but if it's true, I suggest people ask Ketchum for their Bigfoot DNA samples back and send it to Dr. Sykes instead. Again-- Lord, please don't let this be true.

The camera man reported that the sounds were coming from the East. In the video, the sounds seem to grow louder, suggesting that whatever was screaming was moving closer to the group's position.

Is Bigfoot a zoo type animal?
Debunker-skeptoid Benjamin Radford, having solved the chupacabras mystery (er, not) has a new piece in which he explains Bigfoot. This time, the reason for BF is: escaped zoo or circus animals. Yes, I know! That old chestnut. Of course animals do escape from zoos,circuses, etc. but well, do I really have to explain the rest? Of course I don't.
I like this comment though. Explaining that bears sometimes walk on their hind legs, which might account for what people think are Bigfoot, other animals fake us humans out by showing off their rear ends:

New 'Bigfoot' chiller!
Grindstone Entertainment has acquired North American rights to the microbudget found-footage thriller "Bigfoot County," and will explore release options for late this year.
Described as "Deliverance" plus "Blair Witch" meets Bigfoot, chiller is fashioned from footage ostensibly taken by a group of filmmakers who disappeared in Northern California's Bigfoot-sighting hotspot of Siskiyou County.
