XLrator Media has found Bigfoot, acquiring North American rights to the horror/thriller "The Lost Coast Tapes" with plans for a fall release.
Deal was announced Thursday at Cannes. Continental Media also sold the rights on "The Lost Coast Tapes" to G2 Pictures/Koch Media in a multi-territory European deal and to New Select in Japan.
Pic is directed by Corey Grant ("Dysfunctional Friends") and stars Drew Rausch, Rich McDonald, Ashley Wood, Noah Weisberg and Frank Ashmore. It was written by Brian Kelsey and Bryan O'Cain and produced by New Breed Entertainment's Corey Grant, Chevez Frazier and Chris Beal.
In the film, a disgraced investigative TV reporter, is on a mission to debunk a famed "Bigfoot Hunter" who claims to possess the body of a dead Sasquatch -- and when the reporter and his crew arrive in Northern California, they are thrilled that the hunter's zealous belief in his hoax is going to make for a wildly entertaining episode of campy paranormal TV. However, when the hunter's partner is mysteriously attacked, the team is left alone and reality begins to set in.
"The Bigfoot legend has captured the American imagination for over a century and refuses to die," noted XLrator CEO Barry Gordon.
The U.S. acquisition was negotiated by Continental Media partners Matthew Shreder and James Andrew Felts with Gordon.
